Any building in the state where people, work, play, eat, sleep or inhabit in any way should be equipped with smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. This requirement should be enacted at the state level so that all facilities would be following the same requirements.
Hurricane High a West Virginia School of Excellence. Really? Excellent schools don't overlook bullying. It's time they take a hard look at themselves because the administration is mostly to blame for the continued bullying problem that has plagued that school for years. Why does it take such a tragedy that took the life of this bright young man to bring this problem to light? My concern is how quickly they will sweep this problem under the rug -- again.
Mitt Romney says we shouldn't be getting out of Afghanistan and House Republicans are going to introduce a bill to stop the automatic spending cuts that begin next year. These are the same people that say they want to reduce the size of government and cut spending. Yeah, right. The way you can tell when a Republican is lying is when his mouth is open.
I understand that the city's finances are shaky. Cities and states all over the country are in the same boat, most of them because they promised better benefits and pensions in lieu of pay raises decades ago, and now it turns out they can't keep their word. But why in the world would the mayor and council look to make the first cuts in public safety? Why firefighters and police officers?
I personally wish more so-called Christians followed the teachings of the Gospels instead of making a show of being so pious.
The 523 double-dipping "retired" state employees: They won't charge them with fraud because the politicians are doing the very same thing.
Pssst, when some in the media say the president is "polarizing," that isn't a compliment, so you're actually on their side on that one, Sunshine. No need to say they're "at it again" as if they're defending him. Maybe you should get a dictionary.
Serious problems are destroying this country. Locals fuss about a strip of asphalt in St Albans, recycle bags in South Charleston and a name for a school on the West Side. It's no wonder the country is in such a mess.
After Mitt Romney said he is "not concerned about the very poor," he received an endorsement from Donald Trump.

I don't care who Newt dates or courts, just so he can get the job done. I don't care who courts who. They all court, but if he can run the country, vote for him.
Does anyone in Charleston know where anyone buys and sells baseball cards and things like that, memorabilia?
I can't believe the Board of Education is knuckling under to bunch of radicals from the West Side. Rev. Watts and a few other people are just out of the picture. They're not in the fold. The citizens of Charleston, Kanawha County, pay for this school and we can name it what we want to name it.
I sure bet the Holiday Inn Express wishes they would have spent the little extra money it would have cost them to put in the carbon monoxide detectors.
If the newspaper is correct and the student at Hurricane that got killed by the train was being bullied and he walked that way because of that, then the students that have been bullying him will have to live with that the rest of their lives.
I'd like to know why all those people that voted by absentee ballots who were ineligible should not be prosecuted for their role in us losing our sheriff and our county clerk. Come on, Natalie Tennant. Let's do your job.
Republican Newt Gingrich wanting to put a colony on the moon, and now an Alabama Republican state senator says it's against the teachings in the Bible to give teachers a pay raise. I think when any Republican dies it should be automatic to do an autopsy to determine what parts of their brain didn't develop.
They say that it is not how you die but how you live your life that defines you, but when you take your own life, how you lived your life means nothing.
When are schools going to stop the bullying of other students by a student? You see it happening. Why aren't you stopping it? Maybe that young man would still be alive if he hadn't been bullied every day at school.
As a Fayette County taxpayer, we are extremely disappointed at the fact that money is funded for a new 911 center when people are struggling for physical safety.
I see where the Congress is talking about making dollar coins again. If Obama gets elected to another term we won't have to do that. We'll all be living on food stamps and we'll put a picture of Obama on it. Instead of "God we trust," we'll just put on there "the country is bust."
