Showers, Cooler Weather on the Horizon...Sunny skies and highs in the low 70s made for a nice start to the weekend; however some quick changes will take place overnight. We are already starting to see light showers make their way in to SE Ohio and Northern WV, a sign of what's to come. As we move through the overnight hours, the shower activity will become more widespread as a cold front dips down from the Great Lakes. Lows tonight in the low 50s. We won't see much rain from these first few bands, maybe a tenth of an inch or so, but on Sunday the intensity of the rainfall picks up and cooler air moves into the region. By sunrise Sunday, the heavier bands of rain start to enter the region. Some of these showers could be heavy at times, and its not out of the question that a thunderstorm or two could pop up. Winds will still be breezy tomorrow, so make sure you hold on to your hat or umbrella. High 65. Skies clear Sunday night as high pressure builds in from the West. This weak ridge will stick around through Monday, making for a sunny, but cool start to the work week. Highs will still be below normal, as temperatures on climb to 68. Normal is 75. Rain returns Monday night into Tuesday as a warm front makes its way up from the south. Expect off an on showers all day Tuesday with highs near 65. The warm air finally begins to creep up Wednesday as the sun breaks through the clouds, high 71. Models show the chance of rain Thursday and Friday, but no organized system moving into the region, just scattered afternoon showers and storms. The end of the week will also bring a return to summer like conditions as temperatures climb into the upper 70s Thursday and low 80s Friday. As for the Memorial Day Weekend, right now it looks to be partly sunny Saturday through Monday with temperatures in the low to mid 80s. There is a slight chance of a passing afternoon shower or storm, but not enough for a complete washout. So don't cancel your cookout yet, but keep it tuned here to Eyewitness News for any changes to the forecast. --Steve Borecky
